Hey gang! Thought I'd show my newest buckle. I'm quite happy with this one. Hard to find and I had been looking for a while - without success! I love the look of this one....she's been around! Can't show markings but they are there (Richard Sieper and Son). It's a very weak strike. In any case....quite a welcome addition to the collection! Here are a few shots for you guys! Cheers! Rob

Thanks Bob....glad you like it. It's certainly a different type of buckle when compared to other LW types. Love the lack of pebbling and the larger than usual swastika! Have a good one buddy! Thanks for the thumbs up! Cheers! Rob -

Hey gang! Happy to be able to show you my recent addition - a Schmolle manufactured LW buckle. What really makes this buckle different from other makes is that this manufacturer was the only one that did NOT use pebbling inside the oak leaf laurel (around the eagle). A nice variant that has found its way into my collection! For buckle newbies: you should keep this info in mind because these buckles are sometimes considered reproductions by some dealers at militaria shows or other sellers on Ebay - who don't know about this maker - and the price is usually pretty nice if the seller considers it a repro and sells it as such. Hey.....knowledge is power!! Here are a few pics for you guys! Cheers! Rob

Hey gang! I had the chance to acquire this steel example. Christian T Dicke manufactured a few of these before they completely stopped the production of the gold gilt buckle. These gilt buckles were made of alum. up to 1939 and then moved to steel. Many steel examples have lost their gilt but this example is still sitting strong! I really like this one! A welcome addition to the collection! These aren't that easy to find! Thought I'd share some pics! Cheers! Rob

50mm Saxon buckle

I have a post 1916 steel Saxon buckle (48mm) and have now added a 50mm brass example to the collection! You can clearly see the difference in size when the two are side by side. Now - I thought 50mm buckles had that "step" or "notch" on the sides of the buckles - but this one doesn't. Also of note that this buckle is one piece issue - most of the 50mm were two piece buckles weren't they? Just another example to show that different manufacturers produced different types of buckles perhaps? Maybe this is a 1895to 1915 model that was produced in the 50mm size (instead of 48mm) but without the "steps" and the two piece construction? In any case, it's a welcome addition! I thought I'd post a few pics! Cheers! Rob

Unknown buckle
lach470 replied to lach470's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
Hi gang! I've had another collector mention the possibility of it being DUTCH! Here is a dutch police cloth badge with the same logo. As to when this buckle could have been manufactured is still a mystery....but it certainly looks like the typical 1920's or 1930's construction. The motto is latin: Vigilat ut quiescant " which means: " Guards so they may sleep " . Cheers! Rob
