    1. Hey Paul! I have to agree! Prices are high! I'm not that big into them....only have these three. Have more German daggers that are also a pricey item! Glad you like it. I have another Japanese collector who thinks it might be an even earlier piece. Will keep you posted. Cheers! Rob
    2. Here's how the tanto sits now .... along with it's two older brothers! Cheers! Rob
    3. ...You can see the peg hole was "pushed" (hand done) rather than drilled....
    4. ...You can see the temper line on this pic....
    5. Hey gang! Here's a cool blade that I'm happy to have added to the collection. Possibly late 1800's / early 1900's made - would that make it Meiji? Was looking to add to my two ww2 Katanas....I like this piece. Hand made and in great condition, it has some Kanji on it - but it's very faded and pretty much impossible to make out. A shame - 'cause I'd love to know what it says. I took some pics but I don't think anyone will be able to help out on that - the writting is too far gone. Lots of pics to post. Couldn't get the right lighting so I tried direct sunlight...not the best pics but they'll do for now. Cheers gang!
    6. heh heh heh....It's all part of the collecting bug bite! R.
    7. Hey Herr..... Glad you like it man....it's one of my "rare birds".... Cheers! Rob
    8. Good question Paul....I'm thinking no - but I can't say for sure. There aren't a whole lot of pics of this org. The ones I've seen show a multitude of different uniform garb....but I don't know if that was to represent different units or not. Most of the pics I've seen as well, show the members with open claw buckles - I haven't seen many with these types of buckles in wear.....too bad.... Cheers buddy! Rob
    9. Thanks Herr! But I'm never satisfied! Still many buckles to acquire!!! heh heh heh! Rob
    10. Thanks! WOW- great picture! You don't see too many of the Stahlhelm....I often try to find pics of the buckles I have in wear....I havent' had much luck. Looks like the box buckles in wear in your picture are ww1 issued buckles....I think anyways. Thanks for the pic! Rob
    11. Here's a group shot of all my stahlhelm buckles....all different in one way or another. I love these and continue to look for more variants to add to the collection! Cheers gang! Rob
    12. Getting harder and harder to find buckles I don't have....though there are still MANY that need to find their way into my collection! Here's my newest....a trouser style Stahlhelm buckle. I've always liked these buckles that show the steel helmet....Happy to have added this one to the collection. It's got a ding in the helmet and it's hard to see but there's a gold gilt to it. I like it! Here are some pics! Cheers! Rob
    13. Thanks Ben! Much appreciated buddy. Great buckles shown...the style I've seen is like your last example....is that buckle highly "vaulted"? (the eagle) Example I've seen was quite high. Thanks again for posting the pics! Rob
    14. Well guys...I just can't find that info I had on this org. (dammit!). In any case....here's what is said about the postschutz on Pete Whammond's site: The Postschutz (Postal Protection) organization was established in March 1933 as a uniformed organization tasked with the security of the national postal and telecommunications systems. Personnel were mainly recruited from the Polizei, the SA, and the SS. The Postschutz was controlled and administered by the Postmaster General?s Office, until March 1942, when it became subordinate to the Allgemeine SS. So - if I do find that info - I'll make sure to add it. Cheers! Rob
    15. yeah...they're not cheap! That's for damn sure!!! Cheers! Rob
    16. Hey Nesredep - thanks for the pic....yes, that is a classic Assman buckle - you can see on the tab how the date is outside of the maker stamp - I think Assman was the only maker to do that. Could be wrong there - but that's where I'm leaning. Glad you like it! Thanks! Rob
    17. Hey Paul. Glad you like it man! These weren't actually worn by the postmen - they were issued to a very small force of men who were part of the postal protection service. This was just one of the many organizations (though small) that was started in '33 by the NSDAP as a way of controlling all types of media/communication. There are not many period pics of these in wear. I know I have more info on this org. somewhere...I'll see if I can find it! Cheers! Rob
    18. Another collector and I were pm'ing about this type of buckle - and on its rarity. These are not common. I've only seen a couple for sale in my years of collecting - they are either rare as hen's teeth or collectors aren't giving them up! From the two I've seen come up for sale - I purchased one of them. Here's my example for reference. Cheers! Rob
