Hi guys....I need some help here. I have a buckle that I can't Identify. If anyone has any info on this piece....it would be great if you could share with me! The construction appears pre ww2 and the prongs have appear to have the classic OLC cut. Other than that - I have no clue who would have used this type of buckle.
Any info would be great appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!
Cheers!

Here's a close up of the eagle's head....note the detail even on a piece as small as a belt buckle!

Hey gang! I like this one so much that I just had to post some pics! Arrived today from Deutscheland!
This version is not as commonly found as other Stahlhelmbund buckles! Introduced by the Assmann firm in 1926.
Cheers!

Hey gang! Quick question....is this an Austrian buckle? It certainly looks like it but there are some slight differences to the eagles that I don't recognize (ex.: the Austrian examples that I've seen have one eagle holding a sword...this example has it holding some sort of staff).
I know my German buckles.....but not my Austrian (?) ones....
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks guys!

Hey Bob! Thanks man! Glad you like it! These types of buckles are just super as you know they were handled by soldiers and not kept in a footlocker or depot for the entire war!
Cheers!

Here are a couple pics I took of the buckle....no sun here today so it's under artificial slighting. ...unfortunately, it doesn't give its natural colour but it's the best I could do for now.
Cheers gang!

ps.....should also mention that this example is not factory produced but rather a field applied paint.

Looks good! I also have a tan buckle but it's lighter coloured than your example - unless it's the lighting!.....and there isn't a tab to go with it either! Great buckle you have there!
Cheers!

ps.......Bob: what do you mean by tan 79 cammo

Interesting for sure! I've seen many of these buckles faked....but they often have super good condition stars attached. This one has some honest wear to it! Looks like it should! Nice! I hope to eventually be able to add one like this to my collection!
Cheers!

Hi Paul! It was certainly my pleasure! Glad you like it! There are many other variants of this buckle out there (brass, metal, one piece, two piece,....) if anyone else has one of these babies...please do share! I'd love to see 'em!
Cheers!

Hey gang! Here's one I acquired not too long ago - a nice ww1 Saxon buckle! These are considerably harder to find than the standard prussian buckle. It's a welcome addition to the collection!
Cheers!

Hey! Nice buckles....You also have to understand that there was a lot of variety of "green" colour from each manufacturer...I have at least three Heer buckles and they all have a different colour to them. Yours example could be tropical. The fact that some heer buckles have web tabs do indicate tropical but you must also understand that some companies continued to use the web tab as a cost cutting measure (cheaper than leather) even after the DAK was out of Africa....so in fact, there are some heer buckles with web tab that were in fact never used in Africa!
That being said....let's get back to the buckles: they are a very sweet gift! Very little paint loss on the HJ and the alum LW buckle has a great pebbled field to it!
Who is the Heer buckle manufactuer? I can only make out a "D".
Again .... nice buckles - thanks for showing!
Cheers!

You're so right about this buckle being harder to find than SS....and yet, the SS buckles are more reproduced than this type of buckle....go figure!
Again....great buckle!
Cheers!

WOW...I've said it before - I'll say it again: these buckles are some of the hardest to find! You have a great example there. My example has much more wear to the front (same maker). I can only wish that mine looked as good as yours!
Thanks for showing! Awesome buckle!!!

Joel,
Beautiful buckle! According to A.C.O. of 27 Feb 1899, this buckle in "white metal" was to be worn by enlisted and NCO ranks below Feldwebel of the Berlin fire brigade. I have two buckles of this type. No idea if other organisations wore this type as well, but we can definitely count the army out. As to the markings, possibly a manufacturer's mark (viz the somewhat stylised central emblem). BTW, I also have a silver-plated Bavarian buckle, does anybody have an idea on that one?
Best regards,
Kurt
WOW....That is great to know! I was linking this belt to the Army - and I would never have considered it as part of a fire brigade!
Very cool! Thanks for filling us in!

Hey Tom! That's a start for sure....May I ask why you would go down that road? Is it the book behind the sword?
Cheers - and thank you for your opinion!
