Was advised this should be posted in this forum.
Received this for Christmas from my son. I'd appreciate any information, (i.e, Unit designation, meaning of red stripe, authenticity based on inside markings, etc.) It had a tag inside that said "German Army", nothing else.
As Mervyn once said, "Your family spoils you Ed".
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Herman. Can anyone tell me the correct unit designation please?

It is apparently an Engineer Battalion. The motto, "Nous Servons" is for the 52nd Engineer Battalion of WW I service. I am looking into getting info on this one with the "le Corps". I'll let you know.
Thanks for making time to get this info to me.

Again, thanks for sharing. Very nice piece.

Thanks for sharing Mike. I don't buy or sell, just trade so---should you ever want to talk about some trading, please let me know.
Have a very Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the info. I was surprised to read that it is a lapel pin. After I read your response, I checked the back and saw that it had a single post at the top. Interesting. Don't suppose you'd be interested in "losing" the badge and holder pictured above? :-)
Thanks again my friend.

Thanks Speedytop. Excellent explanations. That's what this site is all about. :-)

I've always wondered about the US general ranks. Why is a MAJOR general (2 stars) lower than a LIEUTENANT general (3 stars). Seems they should be reversed doesn't it?

It does Mervyn. It is from the state of Alaska. If you look closely at the seal in the middle you can read that.

How do you get the MOH's?

Got it. I thought it might be something like that.
Thanks Mervyn

Mervyn,
What is "the decoration rule"?

Mervyn,
Regarding your post of the 36" nightstick. It is actually called a RIOT CONTROL BATON. It is designed to allow the officer to hold it with both hands. We were trained on a variety of baton strike techniques.
BTW-what happened to the numbers for each entry?

No other suggestions Leigh. The Ziploc bags have worked well for my purposes.
Good luck

Larry- the piping is red. What exactly is "FLAK"?
I'm away from my house for now. I'll check on the peak underside when I get home.
Thanks for making time to respond.
