    1. In the catalogue it is written that it was in the thirties forbidden to wear awards similar to the Soviet medals and these badges have been withdrawn from owners.

      Those years Mongolia and the Soviet Russia had very close interaction in military area. Probably it has served that the given decree has extended on these badge. There can be someone saw such sign in old photos?

    2. How can a government forbid to wear badges it has given itself in the first place ????

      For you it can seem to the strange! But we have grown in the countries of a communistic mode and consequently we consider it as an everyday occurrence. Too most when it was necessary to hand over awards of one type to the State to receive instead of this award of new type.

    3. I think it is excellent swordsman badge. Congratulations

      Dear friends.

      Battushig in the book has written not correctly. I translated with experts an inscription in the bottom of a sign - there is written "The Best (shot) marksman". This sign means is the first type of a sign on marksmen. The sign rarity speaks that in the thirties there was a decree forbidding carrying of signs similar to the Soviet awards. Such signs were subject to withdrawal.

    4. There are two opinions concerning that as carried this badge:

      1. It had a pin which has broken.

      2. It has a special fastening on a backspacing that it was possible to pass through it the ends of a pioneer tie.

      Look at a photo from the catalogue of Battushig.

      The second badge at anybody is not present that it was possible to compare and draw them a correct conclusion.

    6. Type 1 (two piece riveted construction)

      Low = 13 High = 242

      Type 2 (one piece construction)

      Low = 420 High = ?

      ======================

      I believe the above might need to be updated:

      - B's book shows 115 as a type 2; 420 would rather then be put as highest sighted

      - Recently 114 was on sale on eBay and this was a type 1

      On a different note - rumor has it recently a mongolian hero star (NOT a labour one!) was sold by one of the major western dealers! Anybody on this forum the lucky person?

      TYPE 1 - № 7
