    1. Jubilee Medal "50 years September People's Uprising"

Founded on August 10th 1973, the medal was awarded to the living participants in the September 1923 uprising and the struggle against the 9 June coup of the same year.

The medal is made of yellow metal, has the shape of a circle with 34 mm diameter.

On one side is shown relief of two participants in the revolt, one on horse with a gun on the shoulder and one on knee pointing his gun.

On the back side is written in 6 rows: 50/years/September/People's/Uprising/1923

The medal is worn on the left side of the chest, on square wine-red ribbon with yellow stripe in the ends. It is produced in the State Mint. Authors prof. Dimitar Daskalov and prof. Vladimir Starchev.

Bottom note: State Council Decree Nr. 1737 from 10 August 1973, published in the State Journal on 11 September 1973 /the State Journal is the official paper where all laws and other such stuff is published and these things receive their legal power only after the publication in the paper/.

    2. Gen.-major Carl Vinarov, Commander "ZA-PVO-s" /whatever!/ in 1957 - 1962

Have some little more information about him. Born 1922, passed April 4th 2007. Wounded at the Kursk battle - this means only one thing, he was one of the Bulgarian communists, who moved to the USSR and joined the Red Army. The first commander of the Anti-air missile forces.

    3. I found out that the Decree number is 1659.

      Other names I found are:

Miroslav Krleja /Croatia - Yugoslavia, probably awarded before his death in 1981?/

Mario Benedetti - this is the correct name, not Mario Undetti. The country is Uruguay

      Branko Tzvetkovski /Macedonia, 2001/

And for Evgeniy Yevtuschenko, the year is 2006. I'll write you who will be in 2011 :D

Rick, the pistol is a revolutionary symbol. From 1396 to 1878 Bulgaria did not exist. Conquered by the Turks, it was a part of the Ottoman Empire. Of course, through all those centuries, lots of hot heads tried to make a smaller or bigger revolts, to liberate and re-establish the country. One of the greatest figures was Hristo Botev. In 1876 he landed on the Bulgarian side of the Danube river with a detachment of rebels /they boarded an Austrian river ship as passengers, gardeners, but then put on their uniforms and forced the Austrian captain to leave them on the Bulgarian coast, giving him in the end a letter, saying that he was not responsible for the events and that they forced him to stop the ship/. This was not a separate action, at that time the April Uprising of 1876 was going on and the idea was, that he would march through the country and gather a whole army against the Turks. Which did not rally happen. Moving in the country, after several battles with Turkish forces, finally Botev himself was killed. His grave is unknown.

Now for the literature. Botev wrote several poems, considered among the very best in the Bulgarian literature. In patriotic theme. He also wrote feuilletons, articles, etc. He published patriotic newspapers during his exile life out of Bulgaria/Ottoman empire. That is why artists always link his image to the pen and pistol - his whole life was a patriotic bond of the two.

    4. It verks! It verks! :speechless1::speechless1::jumping:

Plotline: after moving to Vista, the Mustek scanner refused to work - no Vista driver for it! While thinking of buying a new one, a friend gave me one not bad at all, Canon. But shaped in such a way /the glass lower than the plastic frame/ that the old big size German paper could not be scanned. :banger: And having two scanners did not feel like getting a 3rd one, despite the fact that one can not start under Vista and other can not scan the old paper brick :banger:

Happy end: someone made a Vista driver for the good old /old but good!/ Mustek scanner :jumping::jumping:

Now only need a few days to finish other work and will start to add the remaining portraits

    5. So far no luck with the colors, the answer may be buried in the Military Archive.

I have lost of photos, but all are packed right now, so here is an image borrowed from the net. The uniform color was red. For the parade uniform. There was also more ordinary uniform in dark blue color, but with the same gallon decorative stuff.
