Hi everybody!
A friend of mine (a newbie collector) recently bought this EKII. After receive the cross he raised some questions mainly because there is a strange "paint" mark in one of the frame's arms. We all know that this is a bad sign, however the rest of the cross looks pretty nice.
I'm in doubt about this case and would like to hear your opnions: was it repainted or not?
Thanks in advance!

Hinrik,
Very nice collection! I'm amazed by the stories that you traced regarding most of the MGs.
In the other hand, I was kind of sad to know that Iceland did not escape from the narrow-minded people's fury that consider every gun (no matter when it was made) a risk and try to ban them.
Once more, congratulations for your efforts to preserve history.

TS,
Thanks a lot for your very informative answer.
I already requested to the current owner of this cannon to provide me with its measures, caliber and, if possible, with more pictures.
He just tell me that it is made of iron (not bronze).
I will post this data here as soon as I get it.
Douglas.

Here is the holster (hardshell type), made by Richard Ehrhardt, Lederwarenfabrik, located Poeseneck, Thuringia (code bdr) in 1941.

EKII - repainted core?
in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross

Alex,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, his main concern is if the cross was repainted after the war...
Here are the pictures showing the painted area in the frame.
