Hello Gents,
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this supposed SS helmet,

Second photo in the book.
As Joe said, there were alot of 6 bladed props used after the war. These that were used during the war must have some identifing marks on them I'd think. Maybe a manual with these will show up one day?

I found these photos the other night going through "U-Boat War Patrol" by Lawrence Paterson, page 100. They show some good shots.
The book covers the patrol of U-564 during the summer of 1942. This would lead me to believe that the 6 bladed screws were in fact used mid war as opposed to late. This of course is an assumption because the individual photos are not dated. Only the time that the book records the boat's activity is dated.
Does anybody have any original KM Torpedo manuals or could perhaps point me in the right direction ? I'd like to reasearch these more. There seems to be alot of unknowns about these and I'm very curious.
Thanks Gents - Jesse

Thanks Again Gunther,
I understand what you mean. I think that the paint or "varnish" of the globe is newer or unused.
I havn't bought them; but was entertaining it. I'm really just finding out more about these peices. Very interesting and unique items that seem antiquated for use even during that time period; but obviously were not. A highly technichal submarine in contrast to an almost ancient form of "star gazing" that had a functional use is intriguing to me. Very attractive peices.
Thanks for your input - Jesse

Thanks for the reply Gunther,
Can you tell me why you think it may be after the war ? I too obviously have my assumptions. The paint for example ? I'm surprised to see these used after the war. The writing on it is in German. I'm trying to think of countries that would use this.
Thanks Much - Jesse

I'd like to hear what anyone knows about this Starglobe. It has no maker marks but is marked 1950.

Dear all.
Greetings from Denmark! I found this forum while searching for info on torpedo propellers. In 2007 I bought the upper propeller and a few month ago I bought the lower one. They seems to be a pair. There is no sign at all on the small one but on the bigger one (which is like Jesse's) there is a 15031 from the cast forme and a "89" stamped in the metal. Now I need the rest of the torpedo! Just joking - but I thought you would like to see the pair. I have "a few" more normal propellers but I could not resist to buy these two ones.
Best season greetings to all!

Hallo Norby,
Can you tell me about your torpedo propellor. Do you know if it was made by Norway ? Also any idea about what dates it may have been used ?
Good to hear from you about this propellor. Its clearing up alot of questions.
Have a great New year !!! - Jesse

The last photo is real curious - thanks much Max.
I´m going to try to contact the exhibition in Laboe and see what they have to say about that particular torpedo and the question of the 6 bladed prop.
Thanks again Gents. This is turning into an interesting post / hunt, hahaha - Jesse

Henrik and Joe,
Thank you both for your replies and efforts with this post. I will continue to look into it as well after the holidays and when I return from abroad. My sources are limited where I am right now. I just wanted to thank you both.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - Jesse

Another photo of a G7-a. This appears to have 6 blades as well unless I'm mistaking the photo (you may have to save and enlarge it).
Any other information will be very welcome.
Thank you again Gents - Jesse

hello ,
I see this same type of propeller on ebay all the time and in my humble opinion these are at best post war . If you look at any picture of the standard type G7a and G7e both use two twin blade blade propeller that turn in a counter rotation .
Best Regards ,
Joe
Thank you for the feedback Joe. This on really has be boggled ? Attached is a photo of a G7-a from German wikipedia(http://de.wikipedia....=20080904180309). This one has 6 blades. (wikipedia may not be the best source, so a also attached a second photo from a musuem here in the States near my hometown).
I'd love to hear more opinions on this. Where there 2 different props. used on a G7-a ?
I'll continue to research this aswell.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays - Jesse

Hello ,
This is a very nice civilian gas mask canister !
the Kenn number RL 38/3 means that it was made by AUER and is an S-maske gasmask in a steel carrier . Any item that states that it is Luftschutz and is approved for resale is civilian and would never be found on a u-boat . This is a civilian cas mask canister that someone over the years added these emergency breathing mouth pieces . These black , hard rubber mouth pieces were used by the KM for shore installations and aboard surface ships , I know of no use / or pictures in use aboard any German u-boat . Anything with an RL number is civilian and would not be found on a front line u-boat !
Best Regards ,
Joe
Joe,
Thanks for the help on this. I never guessed "civilian" canister. I really thought it was some post war gear. I guess Luftschutz is a bit better than Bundeswehr, not much though hahhahha.
Merry Christmas - Jesse

Thanks Alot Gents. It is a boring label but adds alot of provenance to the sign. An interesting peice I think. Thank you for the help in translating. I'm much more happier about owning the peice now.
Before it was just a painted peice of wood..... of course I guess it still is, HAHAHAHAHA - Jesse

Sorry about the size, this was as big as I'm allowed to make the photos. I think its a high definition shot though. If you can enlage it some how it may show something.
Thanks for the questions and interest, Merry Christmas - Jesse
