Thank you, Nick. To my knowledge the rear star of the OGPW1 should be of 14k solid gold and not painted. It is then surprising to see there areas of dark metal which could suggest forgery.

I need to get opinions on this 1st class Patriotic War Order. In general, it looks very nice but the golden star is strange... does not seem to be solid gold, or maybe it is but with some discoloration that I cannot explain. Please have a look to the pictures and share your comments. Thank you.

Hi. I like this medal! Mine has a slightly different ribbon with only one band, thicker than those shown in your picture. Beside that, I would say that the medal is very much the same.

And The blue ink on the bottom should be her signature.
Thank you for the information, pity that it is not possible to understand in what city mrs. Chumak got the medal.
Concerning the signature, I always thought that all the signatures in these types of booklets were from the authority assigning the award rather than the recipient.

Here are the two restoration medals I have. I read russian with difficulties, but I think the awardee in the booklet is a lady (Ekaterina Andreevna?)

You're quite right... I now understand that the decoration I have posted is an "order" of the red star and not a "medal of the red star" as I was told by the seller...
I would ask the administrators to remove my post, please.

I read again your post and it is very clear, sorry for the confusion. The golden star in this case is about 10g. It looks that some previous owner else had the same idea about scratching, look at this picture.
Thank you Nick for your help, I think it was extremely useful.
