Bravery medals and also KTK were awarded in the field without any box. So if someone returned home he had to buy one.. there was no official box for them, so i think it could be from the end of the war. This type of KTK box is mentioned in article about this cross in phaleristic journal SIGNUM and also in a hungarian book that came out in cca 2016...

Perfect, i have only the KTK box.. i would say its the end of the war for sure very nice, thanks for sharing...

It was pretty common in that time that they used the crest, initials of emperor, national colours and the portraits of emperor and his family on everyday used objects as a sign of patriotism....

Have bought some Austro - Hungarian military photos and this one was between them. are these british soldiers? there is something written on the building, the second word is Barracks but cant read the first one... where can it be? Germany?

...it is a symbol of war decoration - just like on the decoration itself...

...cased medal, cased mini, classic mini, private adjusting of mini, ribbon with ennameled wreath...

....I would say its because befor the war was the KD (Upper Layer) made of gold, but the Cross alone from Silver, so the lower part was strucked together with cross and there upper (gold) part of wreath then added.... During the War were "old" dies used - with place for layer of gold

..thanks to colleague and also Austrian Black Cross i have some new informations. In the military records is the birthyear 1818 (no exact date). Can someone registred on the british genealogic web try to look after some Thomas Crewe Preston (or only Preston or Crewe) born in London in that time?
