    2. Hi Chris,

      Sorry,

If you get a problem for the translation............

G?rardmer is far from 40 kilometers from Colmar in the other side of the front line. Don't forget the Alsace was German since 1870 after Francfort treaty

    3. Hello again,

The 152eme was an Alsatian Regiment that ended the war as one of the most decorated units in the French Army. Nicknamed "Regiment du Diable" of "Les diables Rouges" (The devil's regiment or the red devils) the 152eme was practically annihilated on the hartmannsweilerkopf in December 1915 loosing approx 2000 men.

Sorry this regiment was based in Gerardmer - Vosges - France, It's the "Lorraine"

      It's just for the fun....

    8. Hello gents,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any good books about Marshals and Generals of france from the first and second World wars.

I collected photo's from officers of those ranks, such as castelnau, joffre, weygand etc. and now I want info on them all.

Just info like birth dates and what battles they have done, doesn't need to be a long story, just basic info.

I'm looking for real books about those high ranking officers, I've got +- 60 names I need info on.

      No internetsites please.

any body know a good book (or books)?

      kind regards,

      Roeland

    10. It is the general as shown at the link.

Actually I don't know if the regiment was later or before the 4th army tank commander period.

Sorry if I wrote that wrong in my last post.

I can't read the sellers handwriting, I'm missing some keywords about the 507, something to do with a school.

here's a scan of the writing:

      writingguillotuk3.jpg

      sentence starts from:

''Il avais commandi le 507 ....''

I can't make out some words. I only read he commanded the 507, the next thing up to school I can't read, as well as the words between school and Versailles (des.... ?), the sentence ends after Versailles.

      thanks for the help.

      kind regards,

      Roeland

      Hello Roeland,

We can read "Chars de la 4?me arm?e en 1940 - Il avait command? le 507?me r?giment (rgt) de chars de combat puis l'?cole des chars ? Versailles"

      Best regards

      G?rard
