    1. It would probably be hard to really prove anything, and I'm sure the authorities there have more important things to deal with. If the money values were high, could be another story though. Would be interesting to know just how much money this chump has scammed from sellers. Hopefully, he will rot in hell on day. ;)

    2. Here ya go! ;) With the rest of the "family" of photos in the backgorund there.

More than 3 years after the fact, but my memory isn't terrible. I thought those pics. in the auction looked awfully familiar. I'll just take it as a compliment.....

Is it so hard for a simple, "Hey, I like your pics from a medal I bought. I want to sell the medal, can I reuse your images?" I wouldn't mind, but this is kind of insulting.

    3. I don't so much mind people reselling things that I or my interests have sold them in the past, but can't I at least get some photo credit? :o

"For condition please check the pictures. I DO NOT use stock photos, the item(s) PICTURED in the listing IS/ARE the ITEM(S) BEING SOLD. What you SEE is EXACTLY what you GET! Please check my history and feedback and bid with confidence!"

Na, just use the photos somebody else took. I've got all of those originals.  Are they that good? Should I be flattered, or am I just overly sensitive?

    4. This is a fascinating thread.

I do wonder though, why would anybody go to the length of making a fake a lower class order - I think unofficial copy would probably be better.

As Rich pointed out, they are expensive - so it makes sense a shop might make these and somebody would be able to pick one up for a lot less money? Though I must ask, is this even LEGAL in Japan?

I can't comment on the pieces - I know nothing of miniatures, but interesting to read the commentary back and forth.

    5. Sweet! I love sake cups, though I only collect those of the Russo-Japan War flavor. Cups are especially cool when they have names on them and even better when you can get the boxes! Nice collection!

Nice Nagoya rifle too. Does the dust cover number match too? If so, super-tasty!!

    6. Same ebay seller discussed on this thread (different forum):

      http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=753995

It now appears that the ebay and YJ sellers are different. If someone buys it on ebay, that seller will snatch it up on YJ. Then sell it to the ebay bidder.

      I guess...

      Best,

      Rich

      Their description says:

"We are a group and collective of local sellers that helps and bridges foreign clients to finding your most-sought after Japan-made, Japan-found products. We represent many collectors and estates as well and help market many products and crafts."

I guess one of them, if you buy this jazz, could be the Yahoo seller. I'm going to flat-out ask - see if I get an answer! Thanks for posting on that other thread Rich! I should visit Wehrmacht seriously more often, I'm missing out on good stuff!

    7. Could be enamel composition + explosure to external factors ...

That's my guess too. Something about that particular enamel and something in the environment - perhaps extremes in temp. and humidity, and that cycle occurring for years???

    8. When you can't sell a (maybe) 15,000 yen medal (if it had the correct case) for months on end.......

      http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g125836044

Double your efforts, and TRIPLE the price?

      http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-rare-Japanese-Japan-The-Greater-East-Asian-War-Medal-Pure-Silver-/171394126750?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27e7e2d39e

I'd like to know what the two rejected offers were....

      Doesn't double-selling violate eBay policy?

    9. Two cased Korean Census :speechless1:

      Yep! But third one's a charm..... ;)

Don't have a document for the census medal though, even more rare and more expensive as you know!

Here is my uncased Korean Census medal - eBay BIN - $35.00 - poor seller thought it was the Japanese Census medal - pays to know the kanji! Lucky find, and the timing was right. Not the best condition, but $35.00? Yeah, it was worth that!! :jumping: I think I've told this story before, maybe posted the pics. too, but here they are (maybe) again....

This is just a place holder until I find cased #3 though, then I'l part with this one, unless I can find an empty case!

    10. Can't imagine that manufacturers forgot that Golden Kite doesn't have 8th Class.

It will be interesting to determine the period of using 3-ray rosettes for 7th Class Golden Kites (6-ray rosettes for 5th and so on) more accurately.

Yeah, could swear this had been posted somewhere about a period of time where there was doubling-up of rosettes - where as in your example the 6-ray rosette was indeed used for both the 5th and 6th class awards. Damn, where is that post, I know it's here somewhere!
