You should consult a textiles conservationist if you are serious about it.

I can tell you though that you want to limit contact with bare skin and probably maintain a relative humidity of 40-50% (can be hard to do if not in a fairly well closed-off/small space), avoid light all together, especially sunlight. If you are to display them, you'd probably want to keep them under UV resistant material. If not for display, you could keep them in archival storage boxes made of special materials to assist in reducing airborne pollutants for not too much money.

Interesting case for sure! I wish I would have been paying more attention and grabbed pics of the actual medal that belonged in the case!! I can't recall, but I think that sale that Rich is referring to was in a lacquered case with a push button type mechanism???

Several questions here. So, starting with the case - indicates a 7th class, but this medal is not enameled. What am I missing? Is this a custom case or an official issue? At any rate, this baby sold for 133,000 yen, just curious to know a little bit more about it as such!

This pin is actually one that I posted previously wondering what the heck it was for - so this has got to be it!! Perfect fit, makes sense, yeah? So there must be a silver plaque too. Is there no end to the madness? :speechless:I runnin' out of space!

Another new arrival - boxed Gold Order of Merit. What I'm not certain about is if this accompanied an actual medal, or if this IS the "medal"? I believe it is....Paul??? Well, at least this has shed some light on the (to me) mystery of these little plastic boxed lapel pins!! Apparently this one was given for this recipient being a generous blood donor. 1984 "vintage".

Box has a tear in the upper right hand corner that was repaired and the interior is heavily foxed, but intact. Overall pretty nice, I was happy to find this one too:

Thank you gents! I'm addicted to Red Cross medals now. I was actually surprised to find this one for sale. Paul, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they are harder to find than the individual Golden Special Member's medal, but even more surprising was that this thing went for less than the typical one of those! Perhaps these corporate awards aren't exceptionally desirable, but they are really nice sets of fairly high quality.

Just arrived. Really nice condition, a few small marks but overall a nice set. Good gilt to the medallion anyway!
