    1. Thank you Paul! Is this a replacement ribbon on yours or is the hock just missing? Do you think the ribbon, or what's left of it, on mine is wrong?
    2. Hello I bought this medal two weeks ago on the antique market in Shenyang during my travel through Manchuria for 18$. unfortunately it's in bad shape and I have no idea if this is the original ribbon. Does anyone have a Manchurian National Census with the original ribbon or maybe the original case? Thanks for your help a l e x
    3. I totally agree with you Rich, I had the chance to meet mike in Kentucky earlier this year he is a fine man and has probably has the biggest collection in Japanese medals. I'm sure he is 100% trustworthy. Best regards a l e x

Awesome! I was waiting for this since you mentioned a few weeks ago. I believe this will be a big help for many collectors, me included. Thank you for the great work Dieter!
    6. Dieter, babelfish is what I used so far. but I still wasn't able to create an account to bid. by the way did you looked at the other auction of the same seller: http://ch.babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fpage5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp%2Fjp%2Fauction%2Fe99160740&lp=ja_en&btnTrUrl=%C3%9Cbersetzen
    7. very interesting post, thanks dieter! I always found it hard to search through the yahoo auctions, not knowing any japanese. Is there a trick to set this page to english?? best regards a l e x
    8. Hey Dieter Thank you for the Pictures, interesting that they are so pricey! Maybe they came in different cases back then here is a now running auction from "imperialjapan" whit the same case as mine: http://cgi.ebay.com/WW2-JAPANESE-MANCHUKUO-GOLD-RED-CROSS-MEDAL-1894-CHINA-/360258863202?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e11a0062
    9. Thank you very much Paul your expert opinion is always a gift! I thought the third character was different. So you think this is probably not the original case for this medal? best regards
    10. Hi there The red cross medals aren't on top of my search list but i got it for 130$ so I had to buy it. It's not easy to find this medal cased I belief, and I hope someone can translate the characters on it. Plus I will backpack travel through the manchurian region this summer for one month, visiting Puyi's palace in Hsinking (now Changchun), Port Arthur (Dalian), Mukden (Shenyang) and Harbin. So that's also a reason why I focused my historical reading and medal hunt on Manchukuo. I also hope I will find some interesting Museums were I can get pictures of medals to post here. beside, my next big project (comparable to your hunt for a Boxer Medal Dieter) will be finding a Manchurian Enthronement Commemmorative Medal. cheers a l e x
    11. I finally got myself a Manchukuo red cross medal with the original case. Does someone know or can translate the text on and in the case? best regards a l e x
    12. wow! The reverse looks indeed much better. thank you very much for sharing this picture! best regards a l e x
    13. Hello I'm, as always, impressed how much good and quality help this forum brings! Interesting that the made this medal with crossed swords during war time! So thank you very much for all your shared knowledge. there is one question left, is this a rear piece and how much is it probably worth, just to know if I made a good deal or not? thank you and all the best a l e x
    14. Dick: I think the problem in Chinese medals is that there are so many fakes around that almost every medal is under suspicion to be wrong. I would for sure love to see a picture of the backside here this would be a good reference it one of these medals shows up in the future. thank you all very much and best regards a l e x
    15. Hello Gentlemen This is the first time I post in this section of the website, I collect Chinese and Japanese medals and have now knowledge about eastern European Medals. However I got this medal from an little antique shop in my hometown here in Switzerland. I can only tell by the case inscription that it is Romanian. Can someone tell me what this medal is and maybe date it? best regards a l e x
    16. Thank you very much for your reply, I agree that the medal looks faded out in comparison to the one on OMSA, but this is done (like the one on OMSA) in porous printig on metal which easily fades over the years. The ribbon, hock and medal looks real to me, the back is just broken out. But of course this is just my opinion, I never had one of these medal or saw one in real I only compared the pictures which leads mi conclusion that this is not a fake. I couldn't find a Picture of the Backside on OMSA or any other website or book do you have on of these medals in your collection Dick? best regards a l e x
    17. hello this Wei Pei Fu Award was on ebay last week. I wonder if anyone knows if the backside is blank like on these picture or if this medal is just broken? best regards a l e x
    18. the japanese medals look fine, but take a look at the chinese medals for example… some are marked a reproductions but others, which are clearly cheap fakes, are not :(
    19. very nice medal Dieter, the waiting really payed off! so good luck with the boxer
