    1. Thank you for your Reply Richard

I also had just very good experience whit this Auction House, It is based in Lausane which is just an hour drive from where I live and they have a very nice store in city center. I was just extremely surprised that they put this garbage in there and 300Euro are still 420$.

To be honest I didn't understood "restrike" in the first place (lack of English skills), still I think it's a nice word for "fake".

I agree whit you that it's probably better to not write them, It would not have any effect anyway.

However what do you think about the for example lot 87 the Precious Brilliant Golden Grain, where do they find stuff like that??? certainly not in Beijings antique street

Thank' again Richard and lets hope someone here has the change to get one or two of these nice medals to post some closeups

      best regards

    2. I hope this is of interest:

Check out this Auction Catalog from a Swiss Auction House: http://www.coins-la-...php?aid=60&pg=9 :jumping::jumping:

First: Where the hell do they find stuff like this?? for example the Precious Brilliant Golden Grain (Lot 87) or the 2nd Class Double Dragon (Lot 84)?

Second: Why are they trying to sell cheap fakes along whit these rare an almost impossible to get medals (Lot 105-109)????? :banger:

I will email them to ask (inform) about the fakes as soon as someone here whit more experience can confirm that the Lots 105-109 are fake...

best regards and a nice day to you all

    3. Hello Linas

This is a Rosette of the Imperial Time Expired Soldiers League badge. They come in many different colors and I don't know the category of yours.

I used the Book "in the Name of a Living god" by Paul L. Murphy and Steven L. Ackley to identify this badge, it has 8 pages only about this badge and its variants.

If you are planing to buy more Japanese badges I suggest you get a copy of the book.

      cheers

    5. Hello Gentlemen

Here is a medal of my collection I would like to share. The breast star and the sash medal I had for some time, but I finally – after a long search – found a case for this medal.

I know that the pieces are not a 100% match, for example the sash medal is Belgian made and the Case is out of Arthus Bertrand manufacture. However I'm very happy because I like the medals in my collection cased.

      best regards

    6. Hello gentlemen

I recently acquired this medal, it's my first Nepalese medal and after some internet research I understand that this must be the "Order of Gorka Daks-hina Bahu".

      So here are my questions:

      - Am I right that this is the 5th class?

      - Is there any chance to date this medal or at least narrow down the date?

      - What was it awarded for, military, civilian?

      - what is the approximatley value of this medal (I payed about 200$ and would like to know if I payed to much for it)

Thank you very much for your help

    7. I think this is just a fake, look ad the cast (marks) in the case they are from a (real) medal with 3 hooks and not from that paper-clip backside of that medal.

      best regards

PS: this is just my personal opinion, no offense.

    8. This is a nice order I like the detail on it. I can only agree here Pauls book is great I use it a lot for research an identification!

Paul did you date (80s 90s) the medal only by the case?

      best regards

    9. Hello Linas

Unfortunately this is a very pore fake. Take a look at these original meals I pictured a year ago in the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall in Taipei:

If you compare them with the tons of fakes you see on ebay you will soon get a Idea about Chinese Breast Stars. The fakes are mostly made of brackish metal and generally lack of quality.

There is also a very good book which maybe helps you out:
