I am doing some figures for a VVS display. I would like to Identify the awards and ranks presented on the box art to at least get them in the correct time. Nothing like doing a figure represented in 1920's with awards that didn't exist at the time. These are supposedly from 1943-45. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Snoopy here is the latest. The kit is the Roden Bristol Fighter F.2b and here is the pilot's left side of the airframe.

Bristol F.2B, D-8063 from 139 Sqn, RAF Italian front, summer 1918. Along with its regular service this machine was used when Major W.G. Barker took HRH the Prince of Wales on a familiarization flight.

Greetings all I am doing a bit of research on a unit and commander of 1 OIAE stationed at Petrograd (Leningrad) in 1923. Pilot was A. T. Kozhevnikov. The aircraft of the squadron appear to have been divided into three flights of five plus a leaders aircraft. The squadron leaders aircraft has a Pharaoh / Sphinx bust on the fuselage side and was Kozhevnikov's personal badge. The photo I have is grainy but there does not appear to be any red stars on the upper wing. The flights all have leaf like emblems in a darker (red?) colour on the rudders in three separate forms.

It seems that the machine is purchased in 1922. Fokker sold 50 D.VII, C.I & C.III types to the Soviets. The shipment was sent by sea from Amsterdam arriving at Petrograd in May 1922. These were detailed to fighter units in Petrograd, Moscow and Kiev. The last components of this shipment were written off in 1930. Fokker was still using BMW and Mercedes motors in these airframes. Though I am of the opinion that the Mercedes may have been rebuilt versions rather than newer manufactured motors.

Would these have carried the red star on the undersurface of the lower wings in 1922-23?

Well here is the new Model Cellar 1/48 & 1/32 kit.

Fortunately for me they only showed mild interest. The two oldest are out on their own. #3 is about to fly and the two youngest would rather watch movies or play computer games.

It was probably one of those, work on it for a while and then put it away for awhile projects.

Thats correct. With college, budding family and sometimes two jobs and church activities it all ate up a lot of time. This was one of those efforts that I worked on whenever I could. I had a wooden cover that I put on the building board that eventually became the diorama base. When not being worked on it was nestled under my work beench / dispaly area. I would buy boxed items about once a month and would spend time painting between study sessions and the wife would work on her hobbies. Crocheting, photo albums (we bnow have 48 full albums) and etc.

Totally amazing!!! That must have taken months to complete!!!

The machine gun is a Schwarzlos Austro - Hungarian type. Looks like it may be on a sea plane.
