Hi,
Thanks for the comments. I agree it is always nice to put a name and face with a medal grouping.

Hi,
Can someone help identify this badge. I believe/have been told it is a possible early NSKOV/KGB badge.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Koj,
Thanks for the identification. You are correct. When I purchased this I had assumed it was a 2nd pattern, 37-39 cross. I should hae checked better.

Gary,
The Red Cross Bar is a Mod 1957 Bar. The 2nd Version of the Red Cross award didn?t had a Medal of Merit.

Hi,
Bill had sent me the scans of the Eng tabs in question but I did not know they were being sold as repros on ebay....to be quite honest I did not pick them out as repros. I did note that the backing material was more "coarse" than what I had seen on other tabs but that alone can not be a discriminating factor since I have tabs with everything from cardboard to very fine weave buckram like material. Looking at the tabs again, and knowing that they are repro, I would say that the 1/2 wreath is poorly constructed and not of the usual quality. That being said we have to remember that tabs were made in a cottage industry and there are many variants. I have seen original examples of wreaths that were quite poorly woven and not what one would expect from TR quality bullion.
I guess the lesson in this is that whole tab has to be considered. They are getting scary. I wonder if they pass UV test or the burn test.

Hi,
Attached is a rather rare and interesting press photo of Generaloberst Rudel. 2 things make this picture especially nice; 1st the KC of the WMC and 2nd are the clear view of the Generaloberst tabs. These tabs are unique in the line of Luftwaffe General officer tabs in that they were the only ones authorized to not have the white underlay/waffenfarbe. Genobst Rudel was allowed to wear his rank insignia with a red waffenfarbe. (Rudel served as Chief of Flak for the Luftwaffe)
Compare these to the von Greim tabs in an earlier posting.

Dear Rick,
Yes, there is also a version with the full wreath with no gulls. Various waffenfarbes exist, pink, yellow, black & green. There might be other waffenfarbes in the same pattern but I have not seen them. I believe Paul R and Garth have a few nice pairs like this.

Dear Taff,
Although I don't collect political items I must admit that this has been one of the best and most historically significant pieces on any of the forums. Beautiful badge with quite a history. Thanks for sharing.

Ok Mr. Funny guy!
That was a nice picture of the Admin collection! You should post a picture of all of your tabs together...you have a pretty in depth collection.
I will be sending you a PM shortly.

Hi Andy,
Very nice, you don't see many of these. The lettering almost looks like it is chain sticthed.
