Dear Eric,
A lovely badge. I believe that GWL had the finest finishing technique of any of the Luftwaffe badge manufacturer. Be careful in handling the P/O, as the silver finish can fade if not handled properly.
I used to own a mint GWL P/O but over time the silver on the eagle started to turn brown and blacken in areas. I had never touched it and stored it like all my other medals so I assume it was something perhaps that it had come into contact with before I purchased the badge. Alas I sold it....but I used the money to buy a nice Assmann P/O.

Hi,
I have had 2 OM and 2 Deumers in my collection and think that the Deumer (Juncker parts or pure Deumer) is a prettier badge overall. But I must admit it is hard to beat the curvature of the OM, that swastica comes back through the wreath.
There are some pretty OMs on this thread but ISONZOs has to be the prettiest OM I have ever seen in terms of mint badges! That finish could rival any GWL pilot badge!!!

Hi,
Nice tabs. In addition to the mentioned use of the black waffenfarbe for Engineer and RLM it was also used for Luftwaffe officers assigned to the Luftschutz.
The Hauptmann tabs for the black are a particularly hard rank to find. It was the last pair of tabs I needed to complete my series of black tabs and it took me almost 2 years to find a matched pair.

Dear Gustavo,
Indeed a wonderful piece. It is always nice to put a name along with some history to an item. If I were you I would attempt to find out who purchasd the ROAG and see if you could unite the 2. I know of several collectors who have been persistent and have been able to reunite items of a group.

One thing I forgot. His Princely Schwarzburg Honor Cross was from Rudolstadt.
Thanks again, Dave. I had heard that the cypher on the reverse would help in identifiying the issuing state (or something close to that, I am not an Imperial collector - but I might be tempted to pick up some more Imperial items!)

SEK3X on 30.07.15. The Schwarzburg rolls say RIR 106, but that might be an error.
Thanks Dave! He seemed to be a fairly highly decorated officer for that early in WWI . He must have peaked early to have been "relegated" to rear area assignments during WWII!!

Dear webr55,
Thanks so much for taking the time to look this recipient up and write all of his information down. I really appreciate it. I bought the bar with the belief that it would be able to be IDed.
Now I hope to find his full records in the NARA and find out more about him.

P.S. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Hi,
This is a recent acquisition for my medal bar collection. I am hoping that it might be possible to identify the original owner due to the combination of awards. Any assistance appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul,
Normally I do not collect singles...only on exceptionally rare tabs, which I believe this is!
And to think it was just sitting on my kitchen table when I came home....
Interestingly its construction is identical to some of the reserve flak officer tabs I have. Same manufacturer??
