Don, You are quite right. Five letters on left side and 4 letters on right side. To make all the lettering and areas appear like they belong they increased the size of the letters. If thre are any mathematicians here they could explain better. Great Observation. Here is my example. If you thought this previous statement was embarassing wait until you see my example. Aside from attachment plate and pin, it is authentic. Sorry for the spelling. On my first cup of coffee. Robert  No laughing please.

Don, A nice and not often seen membership book you have there. I have seen only one other example like that. It wasn't in very good condition either. Tell me, are there dues stamps inside and if so what years are included? No need to scan and post I am just curious. Thanks for showing the book and badge. Here is my standard Stenografenschaft Badge. Here we go. Robert

    3. [attachmentid=37071][attachmentid=37072]Nice little gems Pete. Here is one I don't think you know I have. Meine Starke Deutschlands Nacht 4-5.3.34

Also, do you happen to know anything about post 287? 1937 SAAZ? What would the symbol on the flag stand for? Pardon my ignorance. Also, post 288 Gau Treffen. Very nice original example. There are copies of that one out and about. My tinnie post for today. Robert

    4. Benten, I would call that one a DJ shooting award in stick-pin form. There is no mention of value. However, in my humble opinion, in light of the fact that the enamel work is period and it appears authentic, and it is not often seen if ever......well you know what I mean. Maybe consider moving it to the evaluation forum. If Don is about the site today perhaops he can chime in. Hope this helps. Robert ;)

    5. James, Very nice and very well documented. With serial numbers and an organization like the Red Cross, I suspect you might even be able to find out who wore (sp) them. I also notice that your black version has the same maker as Don's Frauenhilfedienst badge. I hope someday to add this version to my collection. Now I know how they should be marked. I have always steered clear of these for lack of knowledge. Thanks for showing them. Robert

Don, Thank you for bringing this one out to show us all. Would the fact that it has a serial number make it at all possible to research? The silver has tarnished beautifully. Now that is patina!! Do you have any idea how many of these were issued? Now for my rather paltry entry....what I find interesting is that our Mr. Cone states that the bullseye should be red. Have a nice weekend and thanks for showing us allthis rare badge. Also, have these been copied as frequently as other Schutzstaeffel pieces?? Robert

    7. Matt, Sorry I am so late to respond to your question regarding my statement about NSF. I had remembered reading it somewhere and alas I have finally found it. I mispoke. It was not NSF but DFW. Page 16 BACKING HITLER by Robert Gellately. "In addition, the mass-oriented 'German Women's Enterprise' (Deutches Frauenwerk, DFW), founded in September 1933 as an umbrella organization to take the place of women's organizations that had been 'coordinated' or eliminated by the Nazis, gained a membership of 2.7 million by 1935, and that number grew by 1938 to 'around four million' and thereby became the largest non-compulsory organization in the country."

The author could be wrong or more likely did not include actual party membership. Robert
