That is a beautiful award, Humberto - many congratulations on having been awarded it.

      hello Megan,

thanks for your kind words, both decorations were awarded to my father. if I can help you in any way just let me know, I have the regulations of my country awards.

I have seen in some websites that mention erroneusly medals of other countries or that do not exist like ours

document for " Medalla de oro por servicios distinguidos" ( Gold medal for distinguished services) sorry about the low quality of the image, the document is bigger than my scan

    5. this is currently the highest award of our armed forces, it is a neck cross " Cruz de oro de la fuerza armada" ( Cross of the armed forces in gold)

Awarded by the president of the republic to reward high loyalty & dedication.

I will post the document of this award later.

    6. Humberto has the regulations for El Salvadorian medals.

      hello all,

sorry for the delay in responding, I have not seen this post until now.

the order al Merito Militar Pensionada has fallen in disuse and I am not completely sure if already was abrogated. it was awarded for special military merits that could be related or not with a war and carried the right of a pension for life.

I will post the regulation later

    7. Comrade Mudwallchurches? :speechless1: Thank God the human brain can never be replaced by a Babelfischy! :cheeky:

What on EARTH is that thing "translating" as "officers club?" :speechless:

So... for old veterans of The Struggle and current members of the armed forces or retirees with at least 20 years of service. NOT to everybody on active duty.

I wonder if that had been the case with previous versions, also?

      hello

      here is the human translation:

The medal of the 50 Anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces was conferred to 889 combatants of the Rebellious Army and the clandestine fight, as well as to members of the revolutionary armed forces with more than 20 years in active duty, in act celebrated in the Provisional square of the Revolution of Pinar del rio.

With this number they reached the 2 068 pinare?os that obtain this award it in the scope of the celebration by the disembarcation of the Granma.

The lieutenant colonel of the reserve Lazaro Gomez read a message of congratulation in name of the pinare?os combatants to our Commander-in-Chief by her 80 birthdays, in which he emphasizes that the words Moncada, military prison, exile, Granma, warfare against bandits, solidarity, internationalism and others of great patriotic sparkle, always have been present in the work of Fidel.

Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias, member of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the Provincial Council of Defense; brigadier general ?ngel Alfonso Corona, head of the Military district of Pinar del rio and other members of the Provincial Bureau of the higher political organization in Vueltabajo, gave the decoration to the companions Luis Cintra Frias, Florentino Torres V?liz, Eddy Radam?s Torres, Edilia Fuertes Diaz, Mateo Sojo Garcia and Pedro Corbill?n Hernandez.

the conclusions of act were in charge of Jorge Lazaro Alvarez Vald?s, member of Bureau Provincial and president of Municipal council of Defense of Pinar del Rio, who emphasized that the granted medal means heroism, gives and sacrifice, qualities that define the honored.

Recognition of the people of pinar del rio ( pnare?os) to the FAR

Officers, combatants and civil workers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces in Vueltabajo received in the occasion of 50 anniversary of their creation, the recognition and entertainment in the name of the pinare?o town for their loyalty and devotion to the Revolution during these five decades.

Brigadier general ?ngel Alfonso Corona, head of the Military district in Pinar del rio, thanked for the deference that they had with the Armed Forces and ratified the security to continue of being in the way of the Granma yacht.

50 years after the Granma put prow towards the freedom, the Armed Forces stay next to Fidel, convinced that there is no force in the world able to destroy the unshakeable unit of the Revolution?, ratified the high official.

if you have any other question, just let mw know.

    9. Hello Humberto,

      ang. = Angestellter

That means he was a civilian "employee" - perhaps in the bureau or some kind of technician.

      greetings

      eitze

thank you eitze for your help!

by the way, there is any way to track the service of a condor legion member???

    10. The Bremen Iron Roland was the creation of a legal city-state government which had existed under the Empire as one of Germany's federal states. While it was awarded in tiny numbers for ONE DAY of fighting, it thus had a bureaucratic "legitimacy" that pins invented by some ex-Captain to give to his private army of 300 men did not.

The other two were widely issued to many different units and so were not only much more common than private little units' self-created badges, but also filled the nationalistic purpose after 1919/21 of keeping alive hopes for the restoration of a Greater Germany's 1914 borders. There were certainly OTHER awards that might have been given official recognition (Grenzschutz Ost and so on) but those apparently had no important policy-making sponsors.

      Politics and symbolism.

thank you all for your help! I have not seen until today your responses.

    12. Hi,

Sorry to answer only now, but I have given my book to one of my friend and he give it back only yesterday.

Dirlewanger was taken prisonner by French soldiers in Souabe in june 1945. He was in Althausen camp. He was taken prisonner after a jew proclaim him to French autority. This jew was a survivor of Dzikow camp and he recognize Dirlewanger. During his captivity, Dirlewanger was interrogate by French and Polish soldiers. The Polish claims to judge all the people who were at the head of concentration camp. That's an explanation.

The jailers beat Dirlewanger several days and he died from injuries.

I hope that you can find this book one day in english. It's very intrustive. Several years ago I have met this autor, and I remember he was an interresting man.

      Regards

      Christophe

Thank you very much Christophe for your help!! very apreciated!!

    15. Meanwhile the Argentine president marks the anniversary by making a demand that the UK hand the islands over to.........Argentina.

Had Argentina previously ever occupied the islands or ever had any legitimate claim to them?

      hello Leigh,

yes, Argentina occupied the islands from 1820 to 1833, the first human being born in the islands were Argentina citizens, one of them was Malvina Mar?a Vernet y S?ez( 1830) daugther of the Political and Military commander of the islands. they took posetion of the islands from Spain, that territory was part of the Virreinato del R?o de la Plata until 1810.

in fact in that year Argentina paid the salary to the Spanish military commander in the island.
