    1. hello all,

I am still wondering about the complete list of Otto Von Bismarck Awards! I have been told so far the following awards:

      Prussian Life Saving Medal

both versions of PLM, peace & war merit.

Prussia, Orden of the Black Eagle

      Baden, House Orden of Fidelity

      EKI & EKII

so I would like to know if any other member can help me to make a complete list of his awards, as complete as it can be.

      Thanks in advance!

    2. Yesssssss, but understand: that was NEVER correct and NEVER regulation. :banger:

Even worse was the quite stupid fashion of wearing an EMPTY ribbon for the star on a medal bar. :speechless:

Here is then-Marine Oberzahlmeister August B?ning wearing the "empty ribbon" last on his medal bar, along with the proper pinback star. This was taken in 1924 in "Landmarine" Coastal Defense Battalion IV, Cuxhaven:

      hello Rick,

thank you very much for show me this photo.

yes, I agree,I have always wondering why they would preffer to used the empty ribbon in the medal bar if they haved the chance to wear the TWM star itself!

I still would like to see a photo of a soldier wearing the TWM star attached to ribbon in a medal bar

    3. OOOOPPPS - looking at it again, its the Frans Joseph Cross of 1916. However it was not awarded until November 28th, 1916 (a week after the death of FJ) as a 'posthumious' award (for the Emperor) Kaiser Karl was the first recipieint and recieved his on My 12, 1917. It was only awarded 25 times to Generals, Field Marshals, and high officers. The FJ cross is 56mm from arm to arm.

At first look I thought it was the memorial cross but that one has a 'star burst' between the arms of the cross - not the laurel wreath. Established by Karl on November 30th 1916 the FJ Memorial Cross came in oly two classes. The cross is a48mm from arm to arm EK style cross, with a right facing portrait of FJ in a center medalion. Around the medalion is 'IN MEMORIAM. 1848 - 1916' 5 'rays' of a star burst between each arm. The first class came in black oxodized iron (not rust!) while the second class came in gold plate (!) Unfortunatly, the source that has such information makes no mention of how many or who was awarded the memorial cross.

      hello hunyadi,

it is possible that you post an image of this memorial cross?

      thanks in advance!

    4. Once again, you may find that the web is not the best place to do research. What you seek will likely be found only by using books, and books in Turkish and , maybe, German. A good research library remains the starting place for any serious research, and yes it is hard work; this is despite the fact that the "Wikipedia Generation" wants to find it all "on the web" and to expend little effort in doing so.

Thanks Ed for your advice, unfortunately I must try to make a lot of my research online due that there is not so much information localy, of course when I find a good book I buy it.

Maybe I need to search more books in online stores.

    5. Greetings from Vienna. What about an Criemea-Type Medjidie Knight in original old shaped Box. The crimea is inside the box. the order shown is a superconvex french medjidie.

    6. hello all,

I am wondering if any of you know the complete list of Emperor Napoleon awards?? I just had seen paintings of him with the French Legion of honor .

      thanks in advance!

    7. I would say 100-150 for the "medalla de la campana" and "cruz blanca", 200 for the "cruz de guerra" which is more rare . It depends of the condition of the document and also the rank of the owner.

      jacques

thank you Jaques for your help!

there are more chance to get one of this from a Spanish soldier than a German? by chance do you know dealers were I can find them?

      thanks

    8. Another 'Legion Condor' doc....

      Hello all,

I know that is an old thread but I am wondering if you could give an idea of the current prices for Spanish documents for "medalla de la campa?a", "Cruz de guerra", "Cruz blanca del merito" and how easy or hard could be find them ??

      thanks in advance

    9. Humberto,

you should check german ebay (www.ebay.de) for a SAM document.

Here is the Militaria-Section to save you some time searching:

      http://sammeln.listings.ebay.de/Militaria_...ListingItemList

You should be able to find one there. If you need help with the purchase, just send me a pm.

      all the best,

      Gerd

      hello Gerd,

Thank you very much for your help! unfortunately so far I didnt find any document at ebay.de, just medals but I still looking for it!

    10. Humberto,

I am just a beginner when it comes to medals, but I think it is safe to say that these two medals are fairly common and not expensive at all. You can find them relatively easily on the German ebay. The documents would be a bit more difficult to come by, but not scarce by any means. Concerning price, once again, I would direct you to ebay, where you can track what these medals are selling for.

      Chip

Thanks for your advice Chip! very apreciated!

    11. Humberto,

You ask a very good question. With all the printed sheets of paper ribbons that started showing up on the forums last year no doubt someone is printing them again. I have never bothered to collect any paper ribbons out of their holders nor studied the printed shets before they were cut up so I do not really know. I am sure there is someone in the collecting community that knows and perhaps we will find out some day.

      Regards,

      Gordon

Thank you very much Gordon for your kind help!!!!!
