    1. Here are a few pics of this PLM. What should I have to pay for such a piece? I have been quoted $1500
    2. I was finally able to get some close-ups of the Red color in the Talisman symbols. It looks to be red paint, pure and simple. We can now document that in at least this sword from the 1590-1620 period, a North European blade was enhanced with Red Paint.
    3. Dante: I have always enjoyed reading about Early German smiths and Talisman blades. When this blade hit eBay, I simply could not believe it ! Thanks for your comments. Vic
    4. The star like devices are considered planets, like Venus. For more on Talisman blades see Wagner's "Cut and Thrust Weapons" This book should be in every antique edged weapon collectors library. Blade on this magnficiant sword is 37 1/2 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide. This sword as most from this period is surprisingly light to handle. Imagine this weapon being wielded from a charging 20 mph horse. It could easily remove a head or arm, crush bones and unseat an opponent.
    5. Here is Early Cavalry Sword from the 30 Years War Period. The sword has a Talisman blade by the famous Solingen smith Peter Munich. In the Talisman engravings is a red color. Is it red paint or the remains of a Gold-Mercury amalgum as has been suggested to me.
    6. After 14 months of research in this area my German co-author and I are publishing our findings in the October issue of Militaria International. We have examined Prussian aviation from its earliest days and the founding of the Imperial Aero Corps, early military developments, recruiting of civilian pilots for military service, rare Prussian flying daggers, uniforms of the fliegertruppen including the uniforms of Immelmann and Richthofen. We also introduce Franz Geerdtz and the first 4 Prussian aviators. We examine the personal dagger of Navy fighter pilot Wolfgang Wiesand and share some basic information on early flight badges. The members of the forum have helped us along the way and we welcome your remarks after you have reviewed our research.
    7. We just need one badge, but this one looks really good in the details which I always like. But I'm a dagger guy . The badge is on approval, we do not need to purchase at all.
    8. On the preceeding pic, the cross at the top has been bent over, notice also the vertical lines inside the crown.
    9. A German Jeweler dealing in antique silver has looked this badge over and also tested the silver and says it meets the 800 standard perfectly. Actually he said they are always a little bit over 800. He also stated the gilt used was a "cheap" gilt used during the war that he has seen on many badges. He also said the stamps are done absolutely correctly for the period.
