Nesredep, thanks for posting. It's an ink stamp, dimmension is 40x55 mm. It's the City Weapon of Swinemunde (until 45), today Świnoujście in Poland. It was found and made in Trondheim Norway and came together with several KM items.

Several U-boats used a similar wappen and one of them was allocated to the 13th U-flotilla, but who knows, I'am still investigation and this is only a theory, all suggestions appreciated , cheers Frode

Narvik shields are difficult, a lot of fakes around. Better photos needed to make any certain opinion regardning orginality. I must admit that I have the same concerns as Peter J.

Thank you all for your comments. As Gordon says it's difficult to judge these "none textbook" types as there is nothing to compare with. I think still I want to add this to my collection since I like it.

Thanks for posting the pictures for me. My friend who got it said that the guyhe purchased it from said it was his father's and his name was Zimmermann and he had been a S-boot commandant. I got this checked and got the answer bellow ;

There is a Wilhelm Zimmermann listed in the 1937 Km Rangliste as Leut z See, date of rank 1.4.37.

Then in the 1944 list as Kapitanleut date of rank 1.12.41

The 3 vol. Die Deutsche Kriegsmarine gives more details:

Born 3.2.14 in Furstenwalde/Spree, KapitanLeut 1.12.41, 4. Zerstorer Flot. Adj. 4.39 - 9.39, 2. S Flot. Kommandant 10. 39 - 6.40, then time at Lazarette (field hospital), then Sab F.d.S. 2 Asto 1943. released 10.45

Thanks for posting my helmets. I will try to take pictures of my ET single decal one and the ship grey one in the weekend.

The camo is coming from a coastal fort here in Norway. The fp no is attributed to 16 Vorpost- Flotilla located in Melsomvik, East Norway. The helmet was found further north in Norway but these guys where moving around. Hope to find information on the other names also.

There is two names in the helmet. This is the first and stroken over. The last is Obltn Ingj. Manzhe. Difficult to read the last name. No feldpostno on that name.
