Found it! I am so excited to find out that this is a button of the 2nd Imperial Guard Infantry Regiment! (I googled ottoman 2nd regiment button, and clicked images).

Hi Brian,
Yes, an internet search shows it to be an arabic 2.

Thank you Mervyn. Would the KAR have had buttons made in Paris? I know some Ottoman buttons were made by a French firm. I also wonder about the possibility of Algerian or Moroccan troops?

It looks like the button with the rampant lion is a Royal Bulgarian Army button.

I wonder if the button I thought was Ottoman could be Algerian, as it says BREVETE on the back?

I just received these buttons today. I know the flaming grenade is French o.r.'s. Am I correct in believing the second one is Ottoman? It has the word BREVETE on the back opposite what looks to be a crescent and star. I thought the third one was Bavarian, but it would have a double tail if it was.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Paul

I just received a lot of 3 WWI military buttons, and I'm wondering if this one is Ottoman.
Thank you,
Paul

I just figured out after blowing up the picture, that is says "B.W. V.M." instead of POW.

Here's mine. It has one gilt bar and two silver bars.

Dave - I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for the information.

I'm guessing the V.M. is for victory medal, and the POW. is for something related to it. However, it would be neat if it did end up pertaining to "prisoner of war".

Yes. It's a long service medal. The ribbon is faded on the front.

Chris - Thank you.
Pierce - Thank you...and will do!

I assume it would be for a wartime NCO?

Thanks Tony. I was really curious about the POW part. Could it be Prisoner of war, or am I reaching?

I'm also wondering about the comment "On R&F roll POW. V.M.".

I think I found his gazette for 2nd Lieutenant in the Scottish Rifles. It looks like he was in the 1/5 Seaforth Highlanders, then became an officer. If I'm reading the MIC correctly, his War Medal and Victory medal will be named as an officer (Scottish Rifles). I just purchased his 1914-15 Star, which is named as a private in the Seaforth Highlanders. I wonder where the King's African Rifles fits into the puzzle?

Can anyone with Ancestry access look up the MIC for 895 Pte John Morrison Seaforth Highlanders?
Thank you,

Are there any Royal Engineer collectors who could provide any information on 229785 Spr. James Hall RE?
Thanks in advance,

I just received this marker for a wehrmann who is buried in Halluin. The volksbund.de site shows that he died October 27, 1917 and has him in block 3 Grab 330.
This marker is grey plastic. It mentions Halluin on the back, along with some numbers.
Any information that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
