Hello there,
Why is the construction quality so low on the one that started the forum? I would have passed it off as a reproduction at first glance.

Here it is with my other SA's....this makes 16 SA buckles now and each one is different from the other....gotta love this hobby!
Cheers!
Rob
That is quite a collection you have there!

This same fake shows up all of the time and it is easy to identify it as a fake (and not really that good actually). The details on the eagle are unlike those on any real SS buckle. Notice how the chest comes to distinct point. This same buckle can be found with many different maker marks and variations on the reverse, but if it has that eagle then it is not good.
Agreed.

As they say, better safe than sorry!
Good thing you checked before sending out the payment.

Hello there,
Can't comment on the maker, but she looks original from the construction.

Hello there,
Is there evidence of devices being on the boards at all?

Always thought that GWL was one of the better executed designs. Pity they only made later examples in Zinc. A Tombak badge with their design would have been really superb.
Yes, but even so, the finish on this one looks like it has remained in fantastic condition for a zinc-produced badge.

Hello there,
Beautiful cap with that proper "look" to it.

Hello there,
Awesome collection! Is the Assman manufactured of the same materials? I wonder why the finish is so dull on that one.

Hello, thank you again for all your help. Im not sure if it was noticed but the IC is broken off at the ring. Any suggestions on its repair? I have recieved many emails about this grouping and wanted to point out the break on the IC. Best, Bill
A little off-topic, but what is the award with the gold and blue ribbon on this bar?
Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Agree,
I saw these pocket knives sold at a shop in Prague in 1995
Hello there,
Agreed, total fantasy items. Nothing like this junk was ever produced during the Third Reich.
Are there any German "pocket knives" that are thought to be original?

Cheers Bill - and thank you for the acknowledgement....I do it for the sheer pleasure of sharing what I know with fellow collectors. And, having known Brian for a number of years now on these forums - I can safely say that he is also more than happy to help!
Cheers!
Rob
Agreed, all are good buckles.

truly stone mint RAD buckle
in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment

Hello all,
I have found these mint buckles more than once and they're typically RAD; they must have found stockpiles after the war or perhaps the salesman never sold their display examples.
