    1. Hi Rick, Thanks for the information, that gives me another lead to follow up on to try and track down this fellow. I will post back here if I turn anything up. Regards, Jeff
    2. Hi guys, This arrived in the mail today. I was hoping someone can confirm it's what I think it is and it's correct. If so, can anyone provide me any information on Capt. Clarke. I have tried the Gazette but came up empty handed. Regards, Jeff
    3. Hi Rick, He had $450 on it but would take $350 for it!LOL! He had alot of stuff there, some fake, some misidentified, some modern stuff marked as war time. You know the kind, a WWII Brit Service Dress jacket, trousers and shirt...then you look at the label and it says 1962 on it. Last time I read a history book, WWII was over by then. I got a good chuckle out of the tricorne hat and hook comment, it actually would be a good hallween costume if it was $20.
    4. Thanks for the input guys. I have never handled anything uniforms before WWI so I wasn't sure, but something didn't sit right with me. I saw some other fake items there and with this one being modern, I think I will avoid shopping at that place again. Again, thanks for your help. Regards, Jeff
    5. Hi guys, I came across this uniform today and it is beyond my scope of knowledge. The fellow selling it says he bought it 25 years ago in England, before migrating to Canada. He says it is an "old English Naval uniform". All original, except for the buttons..which he replaced himself. The gold striping and tassles appear to be real bullion. The thought that this could be a costume keeps popping into my head, but I just don't know. I was wondering if anyone can confirm what this uniform is? Is it authentic, military and from what era? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jeff
    6. Hi Peter, Thanks for indulging me and answering that question. I realize that it is worth what someone would pay for it, but since I am not going to sell it I was curious as to the value. Hi Clive, Thanks for the Canadian specifics on this grouping. I won't be removing the pugaree, if Mr. Passy left it on this long it is not up to me to remove it. I may just get an RCE cap badge and see what it looks like on the helmet and display with the uniform anyway. After all, I will know they don't belong together and so will knowledgable collectors, but for the most part no one will probably even notice. Alternatively, I will leave it as is and display with the uniform, again it will look nice and if not entirely historically correct, at least they were at one worn together.
    7. Hi Peter and Stuart, Thanks for the information regarding this helmet. I will be on the look out for a chin chain and helmet plate to complete the group. There is no makers label inside the helmet, just the service number and a small round sticker with 21 1/2 handwritten on it. Further to Passy's career, he was in RMC 1904-1907. Active force RCE 1907-1918, when he went overseas. He was a Lt. in 1910-1911 and was in the UK(reason unknown for now). The tin is dated 1927 coming home to Ottawa and he also served in the RCAF in WWII(unconfirmed as of yet). The service file and communication file between the British and Canadian Governments regarding Passy's travel and pay have been obtained but I have not seen them yet. This is proving to be a very interesting group to research. I would like to ask one more question, the one everyone hates to answer, but hopefully you will indulge me. What is the value on something like this? This is outside my normal collecting scope and I haven't been able to find an original for sale online for comparison purposes. This set is not and will not be for sale, I bought it at auction and would like to know how I did value wise. It was not a cheap purchase, at least for me.
    8. There are two holes to the front of the helmet for presumably a helmet plate, what would the correct one look like for this helmet?? The chin strap is also missing, what would the correct chin strap look like and would anyone know of someone selling the required parts? Thanks, Jeff
