    1. The cross in leaves and the eagle on top is actually a fake, this type of cross have been seen with a variety of markings j.Wagner, JGuS,  14 loth, 800 half moon, the little suspension ring is on top of the rim, not deeped in like S&l and different from Souval. And it also comes in 1813, 1870,1914, and 1939 ....fakes.

    2. Here is 1870 ek-2 that I have a chance to get,

...is this one of those late 1900's production ? .... replacements ?

...looks like the ring was marked KO ... and someone was trying to take the mm off ...???

there are file marks and mm is almost gone.

What would be a fair price for one in this condition?

      Thanks

      Alik

    3. looks like (once again) you had a very fortunate weekend, alik!

glad to see that this sort of thing is still available around here, and am doubly glad that it was YOU who got it!

      :jumping:

 .....still available and at the gunshows you can find better deals than at militaria shows,

...Eric you got to check out that gunshow........

    4. AlikN - might just be the photograph, but is the centre circle concentric? The border seems a bit narrow top left?

Also what's the mark coming through the black enamel on the bottom right prong of the swastika?

Yes it looks a little of center, ...and mark on swas, just a glare, reflection from camera.

    5. Here I would like to show my latest find, ...Zimmermann DKiG,

...came in a nice looking case,

...double mark, I think the guy who marked it, took wrong punch at first, looks like ek-1 size maker mark,

than realized that and marked with correct one, ...what do you think? ...anybody seen one marked like that before?

    6. Here is my theory on crosshatching, I don't think it's a die,

... the PLM cores are made and going for the enameling process, after enamel was applied awards are going for polishing, to take off enamel excess, specially the front to make sure all the letters and symbols are visible,

enamel is much harder to polish than metal, so I think in the process of polishing off the enamel excess,

they unintentionally were polishing off high points on the eagles body's and the later on rechasing them with files or gravers, and some got over polished more than the others.
