I am betting this is sitting in a very wealthy collectors safe right now. Art thefts are nothing new in Europe, why should medals be different??

awesome badge!!! What were they flying at this time??? What date is the badge? 1920's? or 1930's?

WOW!!!!
I never knew the St Andrew Order was awarded like that. Imperial Russia had the most beautiful medals in my opinion.

Wow that is an amazing piece!!! I would honestly love to see it in a collector's hands that could take care of it.

Quick question, what do you think of the Verlag Militaria book at your feet (assuming those are yours ) I've got the second volume on the Horizon Blue uniforms for the aviation section

Apart from the nobility connection; the simple 1870 EK2 document is spectacular in and of itself! Nice group Chris!
Seriously!! Very nice!!

I'm stunned he survived the first wound. Knowing that trauma surgery and the understanding of sepsis was at its real infancy. Amazing early group Chris

WOW! that is nice! How rare is this gorget? I would assume it is a fairly hard to get one?

I wish they displayed the 22 Aero Squadron and 49th Aero Squadron fabric better. Those are amazing pieces and they are relegated to the background of a display. They are getting a wonderful grouping donated to them soon from BR211 with fabric and photo of an American pilot (plus a wonderful squadron history with every members Bio--would kill for that). (Mowhawk arms auction). I wonder if it will ever see the light of day??

Chris I would be interested. Would love to read about some of the early documents.

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. I've had so many projects I meant to do, wanted to do, and should have done. I let the chance slip by. I'm not on the site, no involved, and the items I have are sitting and gathering dust. "Other" stuff gets in the way, and you lose track of what is enjoyable, and what makes this hobby fun.

I know I've seen something like this before. Is there any photos in Baer's History of the German Steel Helmet with a helmet like this??? Love the age on the paint though. Neat to see original work like this!!! (plus the liner is a killer --- very nice!!)

Hi Jaba!!
Did they have any pieces of aircraft fabric on display??

Gloria Steinem??? Seriously???
I'm trying to figure out what exactly this "honor" is supposed to honor. The write up in Wiki says:
"an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".
So basically we can give it for any reason at any time. Is that supposed to be prestigious?

Here is the reverse side of the pilot's badge. I hope you can read it. I will post some other documents in a few minutes.
Now that is neat!!! An original engraved badge. Love to see things like this. You never see originals it seems!!

I hear there a little sarcasm
I love it but it seems we are the only one who like this navy stuff.
Regards
Alex
Oh I think we all love it, but how to find it; that is the question. I've never seen many items like this before outside of a book!

Even for this time period? I understand the monetary value of these items is high, but is there a huge demand for them?
