Hallo Jacky thanks for your comments always welcome and I will try to answer some of your questions. The "Manhood & Loyalty" is a Military Merit Medal instituted I believe for the 1913 Balkan War Conflict it came in two classes, with Swords for Combatant and without Swords for Non-Combatant. Please see: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18781 The Manhood and Loyalty has no connection with the Red Cross. However the "Medailei Meritul Sanitar" is connected to this 1913 award from the days of Royalty. It was given to Military Medical Personel and again is seperate from Romanian Red Cross Awards as far as I can determine. The reason I queried the mini ribbon called a Rosette, being represented by a mini rectangular bar, is that it looks similar to the Bareta gradului de Mare Ofiter / Mini ribbon bar for Great Officer. As will be seen in the continuing posts, where the word rozeta is used a circular design is shown. The quality of the new awards leaves a lot to be desired, these drawings stem from 2003, and some of the medals have been issued, as you can imagine getting to obtain new issues is not so easy, as of yet. Modelul desenant al "Ordinului Meritul Sanitar". Modern version of the Medal, "Order of Medical Merit". Rozeta Cavaler (for some reason this is not a Rosette! Publication error??) Bareta Cavaler / Knight mini ribbon in Peace-time - Bareta Cavaler de razboi / Knight mini ribbon in War-time. Kevin in Deva.

Hallo Gents the following pictures are from: Monitorul Official Al Romaniel, Partea 1, Nr. 926/23. XII. 2003, and show some sketches of the official (post-Communist) replacement medals for Romania. I have had to crop the pictures from the main scan as it is to small to see the detail when scanned in full page size. The first is the various grades of: Modelul desenant al "Medaliel Barbatie si Credintia" cu insemn de pace. Modern version of the Medal, "Manhood & Loyalty" in Peacetime. Clasa 1, Aur. / First Class. FBI make the First Stolen Valor Arrest.

Gemtlemen with all due respect you are both missing my point, the following: has no connection to somebody wearing medals illegaly or pretending to be a soldier or other ex-military vet. This is an opinion about politicians. And as I stated there is a strict "No Politics" rule, that I presume includes comments about Polticians in general?? And, I dont get where the following comes into this thread with regards the Stolen Valour Act Now it is not my intention to upset anybody here, I am not an American so the comment with regards goes right over my head, I was only pointing out that there were post that were straying off course towards a potential (anti) political rant. FBI make the First Stolen Valor Arrest.

Hallo Ed I understand your reasons with regards this, because you have been the most active in informing the medal community what crass nonsense the so called "Stolen Valour Act" was in the first place, however i do think we have to stick to the no politics guide-lines as set down by the GMIC Chairman. Hallo Rick, I believe that most recipiants are civilians, as for any military or police who would have been granted this, it probably gets slapped onto the uniform beside the cloth ribbon bars, although I have to say, you dont seem to see all that much salad dressing on uniforms at any official functions (the tv newscrews are notorious for not showing any decorations except for long distance shots ) There are new service medals issued but the quality of them is very poor, I attach a picture of some Service Medals modeled on the old Royal type the ribbons look and feel like they were knitted by a grandmother somewhere as opposed to a fine weave. I will scan some documents with regards the new medals to replace the old types and some of these medals are for WW2 veterans to replace medals that were banned under the communists, the information with regards the medals is in Romanian only, but there are some coloured drawings. Hi Carol I thanks for the identification of the Order: Ordinul "Victoria Revoluţiei Rom?ne din Decembrie 1989" As for the other awards I think they are sold / issued by Veterans of the Revolution of 1989 Commities who got fed up waiting to be recognised by the State.
