The whole item appears to have been cobbled together the oval section reminds me of a German item, the Star and Anchor from Shoulder boards, and no idea what the wings came off, and it looks like the steering wheel was tacked on as well. Something made for a play / theater ? I also dont like how the upper numbers 15 - 26 - 111 are on upside down when viewed, surely the lower one would read L.526(or 8) * N Kevin in Deva. :cheers:

I confess, its not an actual plane, its one of only two 1:1 mock ups of the Romanian WW2 IAR 80 as no original examples remain in the world today. Kevin in Deva. :cheers:

The main building, a reception area inside the glass doors and there was no Entry Fee or Photographic Fee I went with my step-son Adrian and as the morning was still chilly we decided to start the tour in doors first, a very nice lady accompanied us at the start of the tour to explain some of the exhibits, but as soon as she heard my son discussing aero engines and the principles of flight and even though I was a foreigner, but had a good grasp of the Romanian medals and Airforce insignia, she tended to let us wander around alone. Romanian Military Aviation Museum, March 19th 2011 visit. The main gate, as can be seen here the road has been opened to facilitate water pipe replacement, dirty shoes for sure in wet weather. The small building to the left houses a civilian security guard, he opens the gate then calls for the military Guard Commander, who then escorts you to the main Museum building, after that you are more or less free to wander around inside or outside amongst the exhibits. Do not be afraid of the street dogs who inhabit the Museum car park area and even inside the Museum grounds. Their bark is worse than their bite. Kevin in Deva.
