    1. Hello Gentlemen,

Picked up this badge at the weekend - RDK Badge (Reichsbund der Kinderreichen Deutschlands zum Schutze der Familie) Tombak measures 2,5cm nice looking badge. A couple of questions, do any members know anything about this organization ? from the title, I take it, it had something to do with the welfare / protection of large German families.

I gather the RDK was divided into numerous sub sections, and the badges were colour coded according to position in the organization, looking through my Hüsken Handbook, I'm a little unsure which level the red badge had (1) Membership (2) Kreiswart (3 Landesleiter . The reverse has a marking of intertwined FW inside a rectangle. Any information on the red badge level would be appreciated. I'll try and run the organization through google later on in the day.

      Cheers

    2. Hi Irishgunner,

Thanks for the posts, I posted the badge on a specialist WW1 forum and got a similar responce, information on groups meeting up

but nothing definate, pining down a group on this particular - September 1935. Thinking about it and judging that people took the trouble, to produce a metal badge, it must have been a fairly large group to warrant so much effort. Perhaps someone will turn up further information -I'll let you know if they do.

      Cheers

    3. Hello Everyone,

I've recently picked up this unlikely metal tinnie - English, German Front Soldiers Meeting - Sept. 1935 I never thought such a tinnie would be struck. Apparently there was a meeting of WW1 German & English Veterans in Sept 1935. I wonder if any member has any further information, I seem to remember old film of Hitler meeting in a semi official capacity former WW1 English Staff Officers in Germany, but I hadn't realized there were meetings between rank & file soldiers as well. Does any member have more information, perhaps where the meeting took place?

      Cheers

    4. Hello Bill,

Thanks for your post and the vote of confidence in the coat. Without trying to sound paranoid - I want too keep the coat in the best possible condition, I intend keeping it, in a zip up transparent plastic cover and putting mothballs in the pockets, but I'm concerned about the smell associated with mothballs. Do you protect your uniforms along these lines or is my thinking a bit old fashioned.

      Best Wishes

      Alec
