Sorry I have not made a reply. Got your message so you reminded me to look back at my posts. You raise a lot of questions and I hope I have some answers.
I’ll sit down in the next few days and do what I can,
sorry again,

Has anyone heard of AH submarine badges classed by Type 1, 2 and 3.
I have been collecting many for the last 50 years. I am no expert but I try to learn something every day. Please educate me.
thanks

The piece is one piece and very heavy, very industrial.
there two studs that we cut off. I looked for some significance to the J2 over 25 but have not found any. Thought it might be a date too but the date dos not connect to anything.
Thanks for the questions

I came across this plaque many years ago from Italy. It was said to be found in a shipyard that had scrapped AH submarines after WW1. It was also said that the plaque was removed from an AH conning tower. Stories are always good but history is better. Might anyone know about a plaque like this. it is 10 inches tall, very heavy metal. Thanks if you can

Your display is a very good idea. I just which I had not lost the original cap. Hindsight is 20/20. My mother had a saying - too soon old, too late smart.

Aloha, been away along time.
Gat a question.
My Uncle was in the Gebirgsjäger pionier Batt 82 in WW2. Regretfully he was KIA during Operation Barbarossa in 1941 just outside Murmansk.
My mother received his Bergmutze. Unfortunately is has been lost to history. I did remove the cap eagle insignia, the roundel, and the Edelweiss early on.
My uncle entered the service in 1938. I have seen many variations of the eagle insignia, however nothing like the one he had. His was the insignia separate from the roundel.
also his Bergmutze was blue grey in color; I have been looking for a replacement cap. I am settling for a good reproduction.
Can anyone thel me about the original cap and the insignia?
Regards
Bill

I am a collector of submariner's insignia with a soft spot for the Austro-Hungarian submariner's insignia, Researching these i have come across 2 authors, Jorg Steiner in his book, and the Czech Pavel Patejdl in his article in Signum who say this badge exists with a horizontal pin. Has anyone seen one of these?
Here is a veteran restrike from Budapest i found
Where can I find these two references

My grandfather had these in his medals box and I am trying to find out more about them. What might have gone on the ribbon? My great grandfather was a Pharmacist in the AH Army before and during WW1. He passed away in 1920 so not sure this was his. My grandfather was a Submariner in the K.u.K Navy in WW1 and became an officer in the Austria First Republic Army. Maybe he joined this Veteran's group after WW1.

Many thanks. Sorry about the wrong forum. My Grandfather was in the K.uK. kriegmarine UBoats. I believe he may have joined after WW1.
