Uniform regulations

Hello there

I am trying to check something I believe to be correct. Was it allowed for Army personnel in WW2 to wear RFC wings if they had been pilot officers in WW1? Would they wear the RFC wing or the RAF equivalent, even though they were not acting as a pilot. I have been told this was allowed subject to confirmation of qualifications and permission from C/O's.

Thanks for those who read the post, I have now found out that it is correct Thanks to the RAF re-enacting group who were at the Victory Show this year.
