Douglas Jr. Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Hi folks,I recently purchased a very nice, honest and complete M16 German steelhelmet, which is marked Si.66 - I know that the numbers refer to the shell size, but I didn?t find information about the maker (Si). Which one is this one?All the best,Douglas.
Douglas Jr. Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 By the way, here are some pictures of this helmet.Douglas.

Tony Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Douglas,I think Si is Eisenh?ttenwerk Schlesien in Oberschlesien. Until a while ago I always thought it was Siemens but their mark is SH.Tony

Douglas Jr. Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 By the way: is there any maker which code is "AL"?A friend of mine said that one of his M16 helmets has such code stamped inside. I never heard about this maker... Any clue about it?Douglas.

Just picked up my first and I do love it!As for the maker AL, it doesn't show up on the lists of German and Austrian M16 helmet makers that I have seen, but it could be one that is still unknown. There is an AW Austrian model but nothing else I've seen close to AL. Maybe someone else knows some more on this,Cheers,Pat Edited August 31, 2006 by Avitas
Chip Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Douglas,Your friend's helmet maker is most likely "Bell L". This mark is the outline of a bell and an "L" Many look at the bell and assume it is a letter. It does look somewhat like an "A". I have three of them. Many were issued to the 1.Garde Division.Chip
Douglas Jr. Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Chip,Thanks for your reply. I will tell him that.Wishes,Douglas.
