Michael
Hi all. I was always under the impression that a correct diamond pin will have a "fish scales" look to the red enamel. Is this a standard or does it vary and the red have a more solid appearance?Michael

Michael
So if you run across one with the solid color how do you know that it's not a postwar diamond? What do you look for? Michael

MichaelA hands on inspection is a must. It's not so much what it looks like but how it's put together into the handle. There are clues. But like many items .. there is always a risk things have been messed with post war. Edited October 3, 2006 by Darrell
Michael
This is a youth diamond pin. I couldn't tell a lot from the photo. It looks right from what I can see. I asked if it had the fish scale look and he said it did not but he felt that it was a good one. But, as you say, I need to inspect it.Michael

Guest Darrell
Hi Michael,I was thinking about the HJ Knife diamond for some reason. However, this one looks ok to me. Here is my HJ Knife that was given the ok by members in the Knife section of WAF. It has a similar diamond in the handle (with the solid red vs. Fish scale look):
Michael
Looks like a superb youth knife. Very nice! That diamond looks just like the one I show doesn't it? Thanks Darrell.Michael
