regent
Dear gentlemen!Few days ago I bought a English sabre. The seller promised me an absolute original weapon. I have showed the sabre in a German edged weapon forum and they are disagreed. Now I try to ask you, because for you it?s a homemade weapon, maybe you can let me know your appraisal. In case its defiantly a fake, maybe I can claim.I would be very thankful for any reply,Greetingsregent

David Critchley
I think it's a copy. The etching on the blade is too shallow, the grip is the wrong shape and colour, the VR cypher is too imprecise and the T proof mark is known to be used on fakes of this period.Post to www.swordforum.com the Antiques and Military section if you want a second opinion.RegardsDavid
