Guest Rick Research
Not very impressive looking, is it? But this simple immediate post-war award document for ONE wound was bestowed upon Bavarian Oberstleutnant iG, Chief of the General Staff of the 6th Army, Hermann Ritter von Lenz. Given personal nobility as "Ritter von" with bestowal of the Bavarian Military Max Joseph Order Knight's Cross on 9 April 1917, Lenz received the Pour le Merite on 10 August 1918. Born 23 June 1872 in Neu-Ulm, he died in M?nchen 20 December 1959. Ritter von Lenz served in the Bavarian army 10.8.1890-20.5.1921 (medically discharged for THIS wound shot in the head 2 October 1918. Between the wars he was co-leader of the Bavarian Stahlhelmbund (ousted by the Nazis in 1933). After the war he was co-founder of the German Veterans Association (DSB).
