Japanese Award?

I don't collect Japanese Awards but purchased what appears to be some type of Japanese medal in a mixed lot of US insigina. No sure what period or even if it is Japanese. I've attached a photo, would be interested in your comments. Kevin

Very interesting!? It appears to Japanese, with the "Mum" in the center. But I think it was hand made. The Japanese medals I've seen are of Good high quality. Maybe a personal locket?

Thanks - I thought it might be civil, something like police and perhaps postwar since it does not appear to have many signs of age. No marks that I can see on the obverse. Kevin

It's not a medal, it's an object (souvenir) made of tin a specialty of Kagoshima. すず 鹿児島 - Google 検索

 

The three kanji 鹿児島 read Kagoshima. Kagoshima - Wikipedia

There is no "mon", in the center, the official flower of the city, an oleander (夾竹桃 / kyōchikutō).
