lach470 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Hey gang! I like this one so much that I just had to post some pics! Arrived today from Deutscheland! This version is not as commonly found as other Stahlhelmbund buckles! Introduced by the Assmann firm in 1926.Cheers!Rob
lach470 Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Here's a close up of the eagle's head....note the detail even on a piece as small as a belt buckle!
Avitas Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Wow, now that is a nice belt buckle! I have actually never seen one of these Stahlhelm issues, I assume they are fairly hard to come by. Crisp details for sure and rightly made of steel it looks to me. I'll have to keep an eye out for one of these. What is the difference between this version adn the "more common" examples you mentioned?Cheers,Pat
lach470 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Hey Pat ! Glad you like the buckle! It's a harder to find variant. The other buckles used by these Vet organizations were mostly made of brass and had a helmet featured on the front roundel. This eagle pattern I have shown still shows the helmet - but it's much smaller. I'll post some pics of some of the more common types. But what is really cool with these buckles is that there are so many different types of buckles that were produced!Cheers!Rob
lach470 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 One last pic.....by the way....I'm always looking to add more of these buckle to my collection! I !!love 'em!! Cheers!Rob
