Terry Mahoney Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Is it true that a piece with no rivets on the back is post war modern? i.e. the items with the rivets on the back are WW2 and earlier.Any help much appreciatedTerry
Paul L Murphy Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Terry,Yes, that is correct. In fact even the earlier post war examples have rivets on the reverse. I think they probably madethe change sometime in the 1970s but I am not sure on this. Since they changed the design of the Sacred Treasure in 2003, adding a pawlonia leaf between the ribbon and planchet, these types with no rivets are actually underrated and comparatively scarce. There are also some poor quality copies that have no rivets on the back but the obverse quality gives it away as a copy.Regards,Paul
Dieter3 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 What about the pieces with the screws? Which ones came first - the ones with screws, or the ones with nothing on the reverse?
Paul L Murphy Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 The screws came after the rivets. After the screws they made a one piece badge so there is nothing on the reverse. I am not sure how long they used the screws for but it cannot have been that long given how little you see on the market.
Dieter3 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Do you know the approximate time in which they made the transition from rivet->screw->plain?
Paul L Murphy Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Sorry, I have not yet been able to pin it down.
