armybrat43 Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I recently picked up this medal and document. I believe it to be issued to a Johaan Michel who belonged to a 10 company mountian regiment 99. My german is kind rusty can anyone help out on the interpetation? thanks
Guest Rick Research Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Yup, and since it says he was a J?ger der Reserve, that indicates he was a draftee whose two years were up... poor guy had probably just been discharged 2 weeks before the war started... Without rank, hard to decipher what the issuing signature is. Could be regimental commander Colonel Kress. Or not. The company commander was 1st Lieutenant Grashey, and the IIIrd Battalion commander was Major Ritter von Hengl.
