Josef Rietveld
Dear Gentlemen,A collectors friend bought his victorian leather pouch. There are no hallmarks on the pouch. He asked if i knew it. i looked in some old spink catalogues but i'am not sure. I guess it is an Cavalry Officers pouch with Cypher VR for Queen Victoria. Is this correct?haynau Edited August 12, 2007 by haynau

Tony
Although I know nothing about these, it certainly looks Victorian. Imagine all the work that went into the production and what it must have cost.Tony
Graham Stewart
Certainly Victorian, and would believe it to be either regular cavalry or yeomanry, but I can't make the cypher out. I'll admit I don't think there's a reference book on the types of pouch worn by cavalry units, which would help you out, although "Dress Regulations" may have descriptions of pouches worn by the various units.Graham.
