I think this armband was used by medics (????) but I am not in any way 100% sure on that....Can anyone tell me what these were used for? And what does the writing say? Thanks for the help!

"Assistant Stretcher Bearer" armbands were worn on the RIGHT upper arm by normal soldiers serving for the moment to evacuate wounded. This was to give them protection from enemy fire as long as they were not armed-- as untrained and while so serving, medical auxiliaries per the Geneva Convention.

Regular medical personnel wore the Red Cross armband on their LEFT upper arm.
