mariner Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 I have a 3 band tower musket of 1859 era type, usual arrows on the butt, with crown on the hammer plate. However on the butt plate it has the following markings, can anyone tell me what they mean? V K6 18
Guest amherst Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 (edited) V represents a volunteer unit.K6 is unfamiliar. Any chance the marking could be Kt or KCKt being Kent or KC being Kircudbrightshire.18 is probably just the rack number of the weapon when in store.A good source of info is Brian Robson`s "Swords of the British Army" - Appendix 3 - "Marking of Arms" Edited July 27, 2004 by amherst
