US Uniform question, late 1800

Hello folks, looking for info about this uniform, hope that someone of you can help me to date it, and if there is modelnumber on it.

I think its a Cadettuniform, bot i dont know what year it belongs to.

This was a very common style from the late 1800s right up to today at military schools. Only its age or any markings would help to date it. Most have nothing at all on the buttons so there is no way to tell what school used it.

Many band uniforms were similar.

It is unfortunate, but these must have been sold as generic "universal" items, with only the insignia on hats actually showing what the school was. I see at least one tunic (never, for some reason the caps) like this every time I go out antiquing.
