leigh kitchen Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 On 1/7/1881 the 64th and 98th regiments of foot amalgamated as part of the Cardwell Reforms to form The Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire Regiment).In 1921 the regiment's title was changed to The North Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's).On 31/1/1959 the Regular 1st Battalions of The North Staffordshire Regiment & The South Staffordshire Regiment amalgamated as 1st Bn The Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's Own), wearing the cap badge of the new administrative Mercian Brigade.This is the North Staffs cap badge, Coronet & Stafford Knot in gilding metal, remainder in white metal (Kipling & King 678):
