leigh kitchen
The badge on the left appears to be straightforward, an original WWII item, the one on the right attracted differing opinions as to whether it is genuine when posted on a different forum a few years ago.The left hand badge is of stamped metal, between 1 - 2 mm thick, & measures about 78 mm x 37 mm.The right hand badge is slightly smaller, & is about 1 - 4 mm in thickness. The right hand badge bears the double "M" insignia of the GNR.One person thought it fake, another considered that it could be a badge of the "Mazzarini" para unit of the GNR "1? Battaglione Paracadutisti GNR Mazzarini", which consisited of 350 soldiers, & who wore an unofficial pilots eagle with attached parachute emblem, of cast lead alloy.Another considered that it is an unofficial badge worn by a former paratrooper serving in the GNR, perhaps "workshop" produced, but not a fake.Has anybody else any opinions please?
