Riley1965 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) Here's the medal and document for the Russian Federation Federal Border Guard Service - Arctic Service Cross. Doc Edited March 14, 2009 by Ed_Haynes 1
Guest Rick Research Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 What are the requirements for this new award? And why oh WHY do the designers continue to make these nasty little ribboned screwbacks instead of nice neat NORMAL ribboned medals that do NOT tear holes through clothing?
Hugh Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Reminds me of the Order of the Kite (Japan).Hugh
russiamilitaria Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Federal Border Guard Service existed in 1994-2003. So, this award is not "new". Arctic Service Cross was an officias award of?Federal Border Guard Service. It was created on 1 April 1997. Those servicemen of?Federal Border Guard Service who served in Arctic (Arctic Border District) can be awarded by director of Federal Border Guard Service with this cross for distinguished service for high level in service and military training, for those who have made a concrete contribution to the reliable defence and the protection of state border, strengthen military discipline, and education personnel.
russiamilitaria Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 There were some types of such crosses for service in various Russian border districts (e. g. Far East Service Cross etc.)
Guest Rick Research Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Ah! Newer than my Russiaan language book on the new Federation awards... when the Fedewration was "new!"These designs are HORRIBLE though. Why not somethingNICE like the 300th Anniversary of the Navy, that would fit neatly on a medal bar without poking HOLES into clothing? These individual screw-in badges look horrible scattered all over uniforms. :(
Gaffken Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Never let it be said that the Border Troops in the Arctic (and their pilots) don't have a sense of humor...it's probably the only thing that keeps them warm up there. Here's a 25-mission patch from the Aviation Directorate of the Border Troops in the Arctic Regional Directorate:
