Instituted on 4 February 1999 by decree of the Defense Minister. Awarded to members of the railway troops of the Russian Federation who faultlessly served for railway troops of the Russian Federation for not less than five years on military posts, in the ranks of Warrant Officer or officer, who demonstrated initiative, dedication and distinction in official responsibilities and made great personal contribution to resolving the special challenges faced by the troops, training and education of personnel, the strengthening of military readiness, research, legal and personnel support for the railway troops of the Russian Federation.
