sabrigade Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 This is an Officer's Cross or Shoulder Belt with both pouch and fittings. The badge is similar to No 1814 in Owen's book except that my version is gilt.
Mervyn Mitton Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Will - yet another rare one - only about 200 in the Cape Rural Police and it only existed for Victoria and Edward. The helmet plate is also very collectable - however, we have two of these pouch badges in the shop and I didn't - until now - who they were for. Thankyou. Mervyn
sabrigade Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Hi Mervyn,You can reserve one for me please (would like a w/m one if possible).Do you have any information available on these early and sometimes obscure South African Police Forces?Regards,Will
Mervyn Mitton Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Will - I find Major Tylden's book on the history of S.A. units has many of the police listed. Mervyn
sabrigade Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks Mervyn,I carry a reprint here with me. Just so much detail lacking.
